Berry Berry Yummy Apple Crumble Recipe

Ingredients

Crumble

2 cups rolled oats
1 cup almond meal
2 tsps ground cinnamon
¼ cup slithered almonds
1 tbsp desiccated coconut
1 tbsp (20 ml) maple syrup
1 tbsp (20 ml) brown rice syrup
¼ cup brown sugar
75g butter

Berry apple compote

2 large green apples chopped into bite-sized pieces

1 packet of frozen mixed berries (or fresh)

2 tsp (10 ml) apple juice concentrate or maple syrup (optional – if you want to add some sweetness)

 

Method

Preheat  oven to 180ºC (conventional)

For  the crumble, combine all the ingredients in a bowl with butter, mix
together and set aside.

In  a saucepan, combine apple pieces, ½ cup of water and syrup leaving to
simmer until apple is soft. Add mixed berries to the apple and stir
through until well combined and leav on heat for 2 minutes. Pour the
compote into a 250 ml capacity ramekin. Then evenly pack the crumble
mixture on top, pressing down firmly with the back of a spoon so that itÂ’s
compact

  1. Bake  the crumble for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown
  2. Allow  to cool for 5 minutes (the crumble becomes slightly crunchy when allowed
    to cool).
  3. If  you don’t have a dairy intolerance you can serve with a small amount of
    fat free ice-cream or a tablespoon of yoghurt.
  4. You can enjoy this berry berry yummy dish for breakfast or dessert!
